A woman with Parkinson’s disease played the clarinet during an awake brain surgery at King’s College Hospital in London. Denise Bacon, diagnosed in 2014, underwent a four-hour deep brain stimulation procedure to reduce slowness and stiffness affecting her movement and music. “I’m feeling really pleased that I’m getting towards being able to play the clarinet again,” Bacon said after the operation.
